Meditation
for 2hearts by Derek Prime
On
a New York gravestone just one word is written. It is the word
'forgiven.'
Nothing
is more important, and more wonderful than God's forgiveness.
It is entirely undeserved on our part. It cannot be earned. Furthermore,
it cannot be half earned. A child may want a bicycle, and its
parent may promise, 'You save half, and I'll give you half toward
it.' But God's forgiveness is not at all like that; it must be
received as an undeserved gift, for that is precisely what it
is.
God's
forgiveness is rich - full and generous. At the heart of the good
news of the Bible is the simple and yet profound truth that Jesus
Christ died for sinners. His sacrifice was adequate for the sins
of all who believe in Him - even the worst sinner of all. While
we are alive, and when we die, the most important question is
whether or not we have found God's forgiveness through His Son,
Jesus Christ.
That
forgiveness is the secret of peace now, and forever.
