Under obligation?

Meditation by Pastor David McFarland

  • I can ask God to tell me why ...

but He is under no obligation to explain what He is doing. I probably would not understand.

"Lord help me to grasp the truth that in ALL things You work for the good of those who love You; all those who have been called according to Your purpose."

  • I can ask God to do a miracle in my situation ...

but He is under no obligation to do so. I may sincerely desire that He would demonstrate His power but He may have a different purpose for my suffering.

"Lord, help me to accept that You may want to demonstrate how Your grace is sufficient even in the deepest trial".

  • I can ask God to lay no more burdens upon me

but He is under no obligation to lighten my load.

"Lord, may the trial of my faith, even if it must be a trial of fire, bring glory to You. Loving Father, I know that you promise never to burden me with more that You will give me strength to carry."
